ICT Gyan Digital Literacy Provincial Campaign

A joint initiative of ICT Foundation Nepal and Ncell Foundation, ICT Gyan has been successfully completed across all seven provinces of Nepal. Beginning on 2082 Jestha 16 (May 29, 2025), the initiative aimed to expand digital literacy nationwide and engaged over 2,000 participants including teachers, students, local representatives, experts, and community members through a series of localized events. The program was held in Morang (Koshi), Sarlahi (Madhesh), Dolakha (Bagmati), Syangja (Gandaki), Pyuthan (Lumbini), Salyan (Karnali), and Kailali (Sudurpaschim). Conducted under the Ncell Foundation’s “18 for 18” initiative, this initiative have played a vital role in bridging the digital divide and empowering citizens at the grassroots through accessible and inclusive digital literacy.

Koshi Province

A digital literacy training program was conducted at Shree Radhika Secondary School in Morang under the “ICT Gyan” initiative, jointly organized by ICT Foundation Nepal and Ncell Foundation. The event engaged around 250 students and teachers aged 14–22, focusing on safe internet use, cybercrime awareness, digital services, AI, and career skills. Interactive sessions covered mobile banking, social media, and e- governance, while integrating digital tools into teaching was also discussed. Razan Lamsal, chairperson of ICT Foundation Nepal emphasized digital inclusion for socio-economic growth, while Ncell Foundation reaffirmed its commitment to expanding access.

Madhesh Province

A digital literacy training was successfully organized at Shree Janata Secondary School in Soltibazar, Sarlahi (Madhesh Province) as part of the “ICT Gyan” joint initiative by ICT Foundation Nepal and Ncell Foundation, drawing over 300 local participants including students, teachers, entrepreneurs, women’s groups, and stakeholders. The program delivered practical education on digital skills, online safety, and modern technologies, featuring presentations by Santosh Aryal from Nagarik App on e‐services, Sanjay Paudel from National Innovation Centre on student digital resources, and insights from Resham Bhandari and Razan Lamsal on digital services and emerging tech. Local officials emphasized the essential role of ICT in education, while Ncell’s representative highlighted how technology can create jobs and opportunities in rural areas.

Sudurpaschim Province

The digital literacy program conducted under the joint initiative of ICT Foundation Nepal and Ncell Foundation was successfully completed in Sudurpaschim Province. Held on Tuesday 2082 Jestha 20 at Ghodaghodi Community Secondary School and Ghodaghodi Municipality, the program engaged over 350 participants, including teachers, students, elected representatives, and local residents. The sessions focused on raising awareness and building capacity around e-governance, digital platforms, and essential digital skills.

Karnali Province

The digital literacy program under the ICT Gyan initiative, jointly organized by ICT Foundation Nepal and Ncell Foundation, completed in Karnali Province. Held on June 4, 2025 (2082 Jestha 22), at Nirajan Secondary School, located in Dhorchaur, Ward No. 3 of Siddha Kumakh Rural Municipality, Salyan, the program brought together 225 participants, including students, teachers, local elected representatives, and community members. The program centered on the core theme of making information technology accessible to all, with sessions providing essential knowledge on digital literacy, educational digital tools, and cybersecurity awareness. Ram Bahadur Basnet, Vice Chairperson of Siddha Kumakh Rural Municipality, graced with his presence as chief guest. He informed attendees that the school had successfully raised NPR 4.8 million through the campaign “एक fदनको खाजा *नराजन माfवलाई” (One Day’s Meal for Nirajan School) to support digital education and infrastructure development.

Lumbini Province

The digital literacy program conducted in collaboration with Ncell Foundation has been successfully completed in Lumbini Province under the joint “ICT Gyan” initiative of ICT Foundation Nepal and Ncell Foundation. Held on 2082 Jestha 23 (June 6, 2025) at Janata Secondary School in Sarumarani Rural Municipality–4, Pyuthan, the provincial campaign was part of Ncell Foundation’s “18 for 18” campaign, which aims to promote digital inclusion across all seven provinces. The program engaged around 250 participants, including teachers, students, and local representatives. Expert trainers – Resham Bhandari, Razan Lamsal, Pradeep Pokharel, and Yadav Pandit provided in-depth instruction on topics such as e- governance, online safety, cybercrime awareness, artificial intelligence, emerging technologies, and the use of digital tools for learning and skill development. In addition, students were given hands-on experience with mobile banking and digital platforms commonly used for public services.

Gandaki Province

The “ICT Gyan” digital literacy provincial program, jointly organized by ICT Foundation Nepal and Ncell Foundation, successfully concluded in Gandaki Province. Held on 2082 Jestha 25 (June 8, 2025), at Shree Sarwajanik Namuna Secondary School, Galyang Municipality -1, Malunga, Syangja. The campaign aimed to extend technology access and promote digital literacy under the theme “Technology for All, Access to Technology for Everyone.” Over 200 participants, including students, teachers, and local representatives, attended the program. Chief Guest of the session Mani Basyal, Ward Chairperson of Galyang-1, highlighted the increasing use of information technology in public services and stressed the need to align future working approaches with digital tools.
School Principal Chudamani Pandey emphasized the importance of using technology for education and skill development, encouraging students to spread digital awareness in their families and communities. The program featured multiple sessions with expert speakers discussing the role of digital services and emerging technologies in daily life, elaborating e-learning and skill development tools in education, the use of the Nagarik App, public service access, and the importance of digital connectivity and practical guidance on online safety, cybercrime prevention, and mitigating digital risks.

Bagmati Province

Held on Friday, Jestha 30, in Bhimeshwar Municipality, the digital literacy provincial program witnessed the participation of over 450 individuals, including the Mayor of Bhimeshwar Municipality, Ishwar Narayan Shrestha, serving as a chief guest, along with the Deputy Mayor, members of the Federation of Nepali Journalists, CAN Federation Dolakha chapter, local teachers, elected representatives, and community members. Key sessions included Hempal Shrestha on IT careers and cybersecurity, Prabin Chauhan on the Nagarik App and digital public services, Resham Bhandari on digital services, Hariram Rimal on artificial intelligence and emerging technologies, and Razan Lamsal on digital transformation and the future of ICT. The ICT Gyan initiative is widely regarded as a strategic intervention to foster digital inclusion and help build a tech-savvy, digitally empowered society across Nepal.
