Inventory of ICT Industry in Nepal
Introduction
The Department of Information Technology, Government of Nepal, has commissioned a detailed ICT Sector inventory study survey for the fiscal year 2080/81 B.S., titled ‘Inventory of ICT Industry in Nepal’. The survey is being implemented by ICT Foundation Nepal under the close supervision of the Department of Information Technology and the Ministry of Information and Communications, Government of Nepal. This inventory aims to compile Nepal’s ICT industry data, assess its current status, identify SWOT factors, and provide data-driven recommendations for policy and investment decisions.The Inventory of ICT Industry in Nepal aims to comprehensively assess and document the landscape of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) companies operating within Nepal. By collecting data on various aspects of these companies, the survey seeks to create a detailed repository of information that can be utilized for research, policymaking, and fostering growth within the ICT sector.
Objectives
The Government of Nepal aims to prepare an inventory of the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) industry in Nepal. The primary objectives of this inventory are:
- Prepare Inventory of ICT industry
- To assess the current state of the ICT industry in Nepal
- To identify strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats (SWOT) in the ICT sector
- To provide data-driven recommendations for policy and investment decisions
Data Collection Methodology
The survey will be distributed electronically to a targeted sample of ICT companies across Nepal. The initial details of the companies will be gathered through Online Research Methods (ORMs). Efforts will also be made to reach out to industry associations, concerned stakeholders, and government agencies to ensure maximum participation and representation within the survey. Additionally, an open survey will also be conducted via various social platforms such as Facebook, LinkedIn, WhatsApp, and others.

The privacy of this survey is of utmost importance to ICT Foundation Nepal and Department of Information Technology, GoN. The key measures of data privacy of this survey are:

- Security Measures: Robust measures will be implemented to ensure data security and integrity throughout the entire process, including storage, analysis, and dissemination.
- Restricted Access: Only the team leader will have access to the survey responses, maintaining confidentiality.
Disclosure of Data
- The data collected through this survey will be utilized to compile an inventory of the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) industry in Nepal by the Department of Information Technology, Government of Nepal.
- The compiled data will be presented to the Department of Information Technology, Government of Nepal, by ICT Foundation Nepal.
- The Department of Information Technology, Government of Nepal may use the findings from the research to analyze the ICT sector of Nepal and plan the policies for the growth and innovation of the industry.
- The findings from the final report may be shared with relevant stakeholders in future, including policymakers, researchers, investors, and industry players, to facilitate informed decision-making and strategic planning within the ICT sector by the Department of Information Technology, Government of Nepal.
Expected Outcomes from this Survey
Upon completion of the survey, the project will generate a comprehensive database containing information on a diverse range of ICT companies operating in Nepal. This database will serve as a valuable resource for various stakeholders, including policymakers, researchers, investors, and industry players, facilitating informed decision-making and strategic planning within the ICT sector in Nepal.
